Delightedly Eclipsed

eclypsed-finalI remember when my son was born; as young parents, financially speaking it was a difficult time for us. Even though my beautiful son had all he needed, I had a deep desire in my heart to give him much more than my circumstances could provide. My job situation was tenuous at best.

This season of our lives was a weird mixture of desperation and happiness. Many times, desperation was the feeling that made more sense in response to my employment circumstances, but it was actually delight with our son that prevailed through those times in our lives.

I can still remember that day when my wife brought like one thousand pair of mini socks (she says that I always exaggerate), with multiple colors and styles, she was so happy because of how those little pieces of fabric will look on my son; and for that moment in time, everything else just disappeared.

I don’t know if you have ever seen an eclipse of sun; but that moment for us was like being in the first row of this magnificent event.

None of our circumstances changed that day; but all the focus of our lives was eclipsed by something more important than our challenging situations.

On that day, I learned to identify what is important in life; and to make a conscious decision to be delighted by what really matters, even and especially, if it doesn’t make sense.

Sometimes we need just to pay attention and let the eclipse of being delighted by what is important overcome our temporary circumstances, because at the end our today will become yesterday tomorrow.

Your mission for this week, should you choose/decide to accept it, … is to be intentional and make the decision to be Delightedly Eclipsed by what really matters and I believe you will have wonderful experiences. If you accept this mission; try to be delighted on your day a day this week and share your experiences by leaving a comment.

4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

Thank you for this teaching and know that God is delighting in you!
