The Chocolate Giver

One of the things that I like the most is chocolate; what a delicious experience that transforms a common moment into a really special one.

Through the years I have seen how other people are motivated by the same pleasure, and one of them is my sister, she is someone that really enjoys chocolate and for her there is no limit to experiment; four months ago she came to my house and had this idea of combining Nutella, ice cream and brownie, the result… hummm!!!, you will have to try it because is impossible to describe.

So, is it chocolate the solution for all the world’s problems?  Regrettably it’s not, but one thing is clear; when we have something that is good and with heart felt love, we make a conscious decision to share it with somebody else, then a chocolate or anything else can change a person’s day.

Almost two months ago, a work friend and I decided to bring some candies to share with our colleagues. Our motivation was simple, we just wanted to share treats we enjoy with everybody.

I had to admit that my friend went above and beyond what I had in mind; she brought glass jars and spoons, so the presentation was very cool.  Even though people were a little hesitant at the beginning, they just couldn’t resist the impulse to come to our cubicles and take some candies.

“Do not withhold good especially in small ways, when it is in our power to act”.

What I really enjoy about this, is that people come with a smile and a greeting, taking this opportunity to interrupt their daily routine, and genuinely develop stronger workplace relationships.

I don’t know what or how you can share with others, if it’s through a treat, a hug, by saying hello or just having a genuine conversation about how they are or feel, the opportunities are endless; but one thing I implore you to consider; you can be the difference in somebody’s day or maybe even someone’s life.

So, go and buy some chocolates, popcorn, chips or anything people around you might like, and take the risk to produce a smile.

Don’t just do it with the people that you know and like. Have the courage and share with unknown people, those relegated as unfriendly and/or the difficult ones, then you will really have worked to bring a smile and make someone visible.

Your mission for this week, should you choose/decide to accept it, … is to be intentional and make the decision to be The Chocolate Giver, sharing love and kindness through anything that you can share and I believe you will have wonderful experiences. If you accept this mission; enjoy the pleasure of giving on your day; a day this week and share your experiences by leaving a comment.

  1. What a sweet post!!! I already had my sharing experience today and I involved my 5 years old daughter on it. We had the most friendly and fund picnic day with some of my daughter’s friends and their moms, so we had food, pop corn, treats, music and… brownies with ice cream and Nutella 😬

    It felt nice for everyone!
